Dredge Pump Motor

LOUIS ALLIS Revives Critical Operation!

CHALLENGE:

In the midst of executing a large-scale dredging project in a busy harbor, a marine company faced a critical problem during operations. The stator windings within their 1600 HP, 327 RPM dredge pump motor had suffered from prolonged exposure to water and other sediment, compromising the insulation which led to short circuits and eventually a sudden halt in operations. The specialized nature of the component made finding a quick replacement impossible, leading to significant project schedule delays. They needed a solution quickly!

SOLUTION:

Determined to address the pressing issue, the Louis Allis team carefully and thoroughly inspected the motor and proposed a full stator rewind. This involved disassembling the damaged motor, removing the faulty windings, and expertly rewinding the stator with new, top-quality, and waterproof insulation materials. By doing so, we ensured the motor would not only withstand the demanding underwater conditions but also extended the life of the motor. They were able to resume their critical dredging operations promptly, efficiently, and at full capacity while saving thousands in potential lost revenue.
